Breast Cancer Survivors: We Admire You

Strength, perseverance, resilience, inspiring and other related superlatives all epitomize those who battle breast cancer. At H.E.A.L. Mississippi, our hearts are with you and we wanted to take a moment to honor you and express our gratitude to you. You are a hope and an inspiration to us all.

A message from our Operations Director, Kristen Fields:

“To all breast cancer survivors,

We don’t see the times when the diagnosis is given how the devastation creeps in, having to tell your family, all sleepless nights and all the worries of life. Who would have thought that trying to survive would be probably the most devastating time of your life. Facing the unimaginable, you have found strength that would inspire, endure, and persevere. In the poem the “Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost,  it talks about coming to a fork in the road and having the  choice to choose a path, the writer chooses the path least taken in hopes of that decision being the better one. The path of breast cancer, the fork is centered around what’s the best option to prolong life in hopes of that decision being the best one. Currently there has been 4 million women affected by breast cancer which means the poem mentioned only two but we can see there has been 4 million paths, paths of hope, survival, love, and support. We thank you for being a light that shines not just in October but your everyday path of life.”

A message from our Clinical Director, Kimberly Moore:

“Dear Survivors, Fighters, and Supporters,

This month, we pause to honor those affected by breast cancer—whether as survivors, those still in the fight, or loved ones walking beside them.

To the survivors: Your strength and resilience are a source of hope and joy to so many. Your journey shows us the power of perseverance, and your light continues to shine brightly, bringing encouragement and celebration of life itself.

To those currently battling: Please know you are not alone. We stand with you, and our prayers are with you as you face this challenge. May you find strength in knowing there is love and support surrounding you, and joy in the small victories along the way.

To the families and friends: Your love and presence mean more than words can express. You’ve been a source of unwavering strength, and we hope you find peace, comfort, and even moments of joy as you continue to support those you love.

This month, we are reminded of the power of faith, hope, and community. Together, we lift each other up, celebrating life, love, and the belief that brighter days are ahead.

With joy and heartfelt support,

Kimberly Moore”
